First Aid Basics Cheat Sheet

What to Do:

  • Bleeding: Apply pressure, elevate, use a clean cloth or bandage

  • Shock: Lay the person down, cover them, keep them calm

  • Unconscious (not breathing): Call 911, start CPR if trained

  • Burns: Cool the area with water, cover with clean cloth

  • Choking (adult): Heimlich maneuver (abdominal thrusts)

What to Keep Handy:

  • Adhesive bandages, gauze, tape

  • Antiseptic wipes, tweezers, scissors

  • Gloves, emergency blanket

  • Pain relief + personal meds

  • CPR instructions or card

Emergency Contact Info:

  • 911 (or your region’s emergency number)

  • Poison Control

  • Local hospital

  • Family doctor

Print one for your fridge and one for your go bag. A calm head and the right basics can save lives.
